Happy Mothers Day! Thank you to Tom, Kendra and Bo for joining us in worship this morning, and for Tom’s encouraging message about the courage, intentionality, and resolve of Esther to do what honoured the Lord. We are so blessed by the courageous women in our lives and our own Assembly, who recognize the power that God has to impact others through their selfless commitment to serve Him.

“Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.” – Esther 4:16

Thank you to our guest speaker Fred Kosin and his wife Jenny for joining us in worship this morning! We were all so encouraged by the close look we took together into Jesus’ upper-room discourse with his disciples and, specifically, all the generous gifts that He gave to those that He was sending out into the work. We encourage you to listen to and share the recording of the full message below:

“For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.” – John 13:15

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” – John 13:34

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth… “- John 14:16-17

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” – John 14:27

“Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him.” – John 17:1-2

“For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me.” – John 17:8 / “I have given them your word…” – John 17:14

The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.” – John 17:22-23

Thank you to Bob for the reminder of just how abundantly equipped Jesus is to lead us. We are so blessed to have a Saviour and King who has all the authority, power, moral capacity, and foreknowledge to lead His people lovingly and with purpose.

When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that the know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.” – John 17:1-5

Thank you to Johnny for his powerful and encouraging message, which the Lord seems to have orchestrated as a “Part 2” of a series on keeping our focus on the Lord Jesus! We are so blessed to be able to go into this week with knowledge of the faithfulness of God in the past, His promises to be forever by our side in the present, and hope in His return and our eternal future with Him. I think we all especially enjoyed the picture of Christ’s extended hands which, whether empty or full, demonstrate His undying faithfulness to us.

So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. – Hebrews 6:17-20

HE IS RISEN!

It was so lovely to get to see everyone on this Resurrection Sunday! We certainly missed the hugs and celebrating with one another face to face, but it was such a blessing and encouragement to share our appreciation and love of Christ through scripture, prayer, and hymns (that thankfully make excellent poetry!).

Thank you to Brad for his encouragement this morning to keep our focus on Christ in every circumstance. We truly need reminders like this daily, and are so blessed to have a God who fulfills every need and desire of ours in His own person.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. – Hebrews 12:1-2

Thank you to Ajay for unpacking more of Philippians for us this morning, highlighting how Paul found contentment in the knowledge of Christ, even as he was isolated in prison. May we all endeavour to loose our grasp on all the things we count as gain in this world so that we can embrace Jesus more fully!

But more than that, I count everything as loss compared to the priceless privilege and supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord [and of growing more deeply and thoroughly acquainted with Him – a joy unequaled]. For His sake I have lost everything, and I consider it all garbage, so that I may gain Christ… – Philippians 3:8 (AMP)

Thank you to Ajay for his message this morning on the power of Christ’s resurrection to overcome our disillusions about God’s plan, our unbelief in His power, and our feelings of inadequacy. What a beautiful thought that the resurrection which proved and proclaimed God’s pleasure with Christ is the same resurrection that we get to claim as Jesus’ co-heirs!

Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. – Philippians 3:8-11

March 22, 2020

Thank you to everyone who joined our virtual service this morning! It was so encouraging to see all your faces, be caught up on how you’re doing, to hear words of encouragement, and read Scripture together:

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” – Matthew 10:29-31

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” – Matthew 6:25-33

It truly is comforting to know that we have a God who not only knows our needs, but cares deeply enough to meet them. We also can’t understate the value of our spiritual family that God uses to strengthen and encourage us in uncertain times. We are truly blessed to have such reliable access to peace and rest in days like these.

Don’t forget to check your emails for the information you will need to join our virtual Bible study this Wednesday. And please also remember to keep in touch with one another by whatever means available to you. As mentioned this morning, there is ample opportunity to use this season and circumstance for good. Together, we wait with hopeful expectation for God to reveal more of His glory through the days that are to come!
